A message appeared: "Microsoft Respects Your Privacy"
Is this a genuine inquiry from MS?
Or is it something malicious?
It suddenly appeared when I opened MS Word (16.72)
And then I could not quit Word and the MPB (13.2.1) would not shut down.
Kept getting the message "MS Word has interrupted shutdown"
I had to force quit.
It did this several times but (fingers crossed and touching wood!) it seems to have righted itself.
Never had such a message from MS before.
I have MS Word for Mac and see that the last update was 12 April 2023.
I did not continue with this survey .... is it genuine?
This is a bit worrying .... comments greatly appreciated.

When was the last time you used Word? It seems like there was an automatic update, (MS AutoUpdate?) while it was not in use.

Do you subscribe to Microsoft 365, or do you have a stand alone copy of Word?

It's not at all unusual for services (such as Microsoft 365) to either send you a long winded notice, or even ask for your assent, if they change the terms of their service, or policies. (In fact, such a notice is probably required legally.)

If you are paranoid about malware, you can download and run this excellent product to assuage your fears:

Very many thanks to both of you for replying to my post about MS.
I am using a version that I bought outright; Word is in use every day.
All noted about Intego also.
As I said in an earlier post, the matter is now OK ... not that I did anything apart from use 'Force Quit'. This was the first time this had happened to me but I've since noticed other posts on the web reporting the same issue.
All the best ... M
