Microphone for recording seminars?

I'd like to record some upcoming seminars I've got to attend for work. I'm guessing that the built-in mic may not be the best for a lecture hall-type enviornment, so I wondered if anyone could suggest a good external mic that would work with my MacBook?

Depends on the price range and if you plan to carry along a mixer table to class ;-).

I can't name any concrete products, but my tip is to look for any mike that's long and narrow, has the mike surface only on one side (not a ball type thing) and is medium sized, so it picks up voice, but not the high tones of extra noise around you. But tentatively a small mike.
