I have 2 Macs (running Mavericks) and 2 iPhones & 2 iPads (running iOS8). Whenever I delete an email message from the Inbox of either Apple Mail or Gmail, that message is automatically deleted from the Inbox on my other Mac/devices as well. This appears to be a syncing problem. But I cannot figure it out. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you kindly.

That's the way IMAP is supposed to work. Assuming of course that you're using IMAP for your gmail account not PoP.
