I am about a month new to the Mac. I have a MBP 15" and love it. I was listening to a radio program this morning and one of the hosts was talking about how he created a clip on his mac that showed him working at his computer and while at the computer he came walking around the corner of the hallway and stood behind himself as if there were 2 of him. Is this something that can be done with iMovie? If so can anyone provide some pointers if they have the knowledge? If iMovie doesn't do this, do you know what program can do it? Thanks in advance for your input.

That doesn't seem possible with iMovie given that iMovie can only contain one video track at a time.

That sounds like two identical shots, overlayed, with a mask on the top clip.
