Nope. My iMac doesn't have it and it uses the Magic Keyboard.

Solved!

That's CAPS LOCK

Actually, it wasn't Caps Lock at all as it didn't replicate on my machine when pressing the physical Mac button. It was a third party YouTube video downloader icon. Once I uninstalled it, the icon disappeared.

PS - This icon did not provide a "state upon hover" info tip, either. That's how I knew it wasn't a core Mac function.

Glad you got it figured out. I was skeptical of the Caps Lock thing since your posts weren't written in all caps. :)

Nice bit of detective work there. I never thought of that. That's definitely worth a mention on the Sunday video chat. Going to the corner to put on the dunce cap now.

There's also the possibility if the hover or any clicking doesn't give a hint or suggestion, that one can look in Activity Monitor's list of processes and see if the menu icon shows there, which should also give the name of the associated app so it can be located or whatever and dealt with. Or at least know what it's associated with.

All's well that ends well. I wasn't going to take the credit, so I won't take the blame either. ;)

Actually my guess would have been some sort of uploader or eject button. I'd never have thought of caps lock. I just remembered it from the other thread.
