MBP trackpad issues

My trackpad registers movement, however it doesn't register clicks on and off. It also gets stuck in highlight mode.

Is there anyway to fix this?
I have it fully updated. I currently have a USB mouse set up and am using this.

Repair disk permissions and then install THIS and then repair disk permissions again after reboot.
