About 20 mailboxes that were in the left column of my Mail app have disappeared but I can still find the messages in them by searching, so they're still here somewhere. How can I restore the mailboxes to my Inbox or On My Mac? Thank you in advance for your expertise.

When in Mail, click on View on the top menu bar. From the list, you may see Show Mailbox List. Click on it and all your Mailboxes should be visible again.

Please post back success or otherwise and we can take it from there.

Tried it but it didn't bring any mailboxes back under Inbox. Still nothing under On My Mac.

The mailboxes missing were under "On My Mac." I can see them when I go to "Move" in the upper right and then scroll down to "On My Mac" but I don't know how to move them or restore them to the list on the left.

Is it possible for you to post a screenshot of what you see when you click on “Move” please?

When I click on “Move to” (what you see underneath is Move), one of the options is to On My Mac. When I look at that all my Mailboxes are shown. I think that’s what you are seeing too?

I am also interested in knowing what you see above On My Mac?

I have to admit that having read your other ongoing post, I can’t help wondering if your Mailbox problems might be related to the way in which you installed Catalina.

We established that your Mac couldn’t take Catalina but you did manage to install it with “helpers”. The situation is complicated by a Mac not normally able to run Catalina such that the various problems you are experiencing here and in your other post are connected or not.

We are trying to help but it’s not easy given the circumstances.

Since this happened just two days ago, I could try Time Machine to go back... but I've never used it before. I don't know if I'd trust myself trying it.

Put your mouse marker (the cursor) over the "On My Mac" in the sidebar and a couple of things should show up like this:

Click on the ">" and if there is anything there, it will drop down and appear. I think you've just accidentally hidden them by clicking there when they are visible, in which case they disappear.
