Hey guys, this mac 10.9.5 2.5GHZ i5 4gb Serial no. CPWKV1A6DTY3 has some issues, first when you power on and it goes to desktop, no programs are showing at the bottom of the screen so the desktop looks blank with only the background wallpaper and the usual top toolbar showing. Also, when you go to the net and try to go from one website to another or try to access any of the site's features, it redirects to a "Mackeeper" page, I am guessing this a virus? If so, how can I best it back to normal please?

To get the Dock back click on the apple in the menubar, select System Preferences.
Once that opens click on Dock and make sure "Automatically hide and show" is not checked.
Is Mackeeper installed? It's probably (definitely) NOT a virus. Just go here:The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide
Read that, download Adware Medic and run it.

The best is you..:)

Unlike Windows machines, OS X doesn't require an active anti-virus software since there are no virus for OS X. You need to be diligent about where you get your downloads/software and be wary every time you enter your password for installation.

Do that, and you'll be fine. Since switching to Linux full time many years ago and then to OS X 5+ years ago, I've never run any sort of anti-virus software and have had no issues..
