I bought my MBP (15'') about a week ago. Tried to run bootcamp and install Windows XP, and after I partitioned my disk (20 gigs) my system went to a boot menu where I was shown the Windows license agreement. The next screen told me that there wasn't a valid Windows XP disc in the drive (even though there was). Apple support couldn't figure it out so I just decided that I didn't care that much about having Windows on my Mac anyway.
I forgot how I got to this point, but at some point, through some process, I was told (or I felt compelled to, I really can't remember) go to the Disk Utility program in the Utilities folder in Applications. Ever since the issue with Windows XP, when I try to verify the disk of the Macintosh HD I get a dialogue box saying "This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disk), and then use Disk Utility to repair the disk." And in the actual Disk Utility program (not a dialogue box) it says in the last two lines of the disk verification process "The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired. Error: This disk needs to be repaired...then use Disk Utility to repair this disk."
However, I put the installation disk in and can't figure out what to do. I am not given any different options really. I'm not sure how this happened, but it kinda scares me a little. My computer acts fine otherwise other than whenever I restart it (or bring it back from a shut down) it goes to a black screen that says that there is no bootable device, and to insert a bootable disk and press any key to continue. I have to actually hold down the option key on start up to select the Macintosh HD.
Any suggestions on what this all means/how to fix it?
