Hi,

My macbook is about 2 years old and today the left button on my touchbad has started to stick..

Sometimes when I click, it stays 'clicked' and the button stays down, until I click it again or right click. Hope this makes sense!

Is there anything I can do myself to fix it? If not does anyone have any idea roughly how much it would cost to get it fixed?

Thanks in advance!

Unless you have some sort of VERY special MacBook...there is no such thing as a "left" (and therefore also a "right") touchpad button.

I also assume that you mean "touchpad" not "touchbad"!;) Accuracy is important!:)

In any case (not exactly sure of your exact MacBook model)...but taking an educated guess...you need to purchase a "Topcase" to get the touchpad replaced. These cost around $175 bucks + labor.

HTH,:)

Is it the first unibody with the full trackpad like current models? If so you may be able to fix it by adjusting the connector on the back of the track pad (Recommend you have apple do so) They will likely do it for free at the apple store. As you have to remove the battery for access.

Possible solution...

I had the same problem with my MacBook Pro. It seems there was a small particle of whatever lodged in the mechanism. I turned the unit over and clicked the button several times while moving the unit in various angles. Finally, whatever was in the mechanism dis-lodged itself. I had no idea that I had saved myself so much money. We Mac Guys are ingenious. I found that fix on the 'net and it works. Patience is gooood...
