MacBook Pro wont switch on

Can someone please help,

Im on holiday and my husbands MacBook Pro just wont switch on, we have been online and tried to resart with Shift, Control, OPtion with on button but with no success, Any Ideas?? The kids were watching a dvd before it went off and the dvd is still inside, Could this be the problem ?

Any advice would be very greatful.

What is the status of the charge on the battery? Did you try powering up both from battery and the AC mains? Also, does the MagSafe Adapter cable light up?
