MacBook Pro screen suddenly odd color

This started happening yesterday -- I've attached a screenshot. Backgrounds and white areas suddenly have blue/green lines all throughout.

Two possibilities I've thought of.
- I've recently upgraded Firefox to version 8.0. Could this cause it?

- I've sometimes had issues when opening my macbook, nothing will light up. I'll have to close it again and reopen, or hit the power button.

Any ideas?

No image attached, however, it sounds like the video cable which goes from the logic board to the display is either being pinched or is loose causing intermittent contact. The entire cable may have to be replaced. If your machine is under warranty, contact Apple.
