hi guys I have the above MacBook Pro 15" model.

I went to boot her today after many years of no trouble and its just getting stuck on a solid white sleep light and no chime or anything.

ive removed the ram to test it but when I power the MacBook on the same issue persists no beep to say there is no ram just a solid white sleep light and fans going full power.

any ideas if the GPU has finally failed ?

thanks

Sounds like the logicboard has failed, not just the GPU. As you noted, the lack of RAM should be indicated with a number of beeps indicating that state.

Also, the fans going full speed should happen momentarily until the system comes alive in a second or so to bring it back down.

Looks like you might be in the market for a new Mac.

and yeah I think your right ive got several other machines but the MacBook was my daily driver when I wasn't at home.

so maybe its time to retire her now.

typical logic board failure I think.....

I baked it at 210’c for 12 mins

I had the logic board replaced three times in that model before they gave me a new one in 2016 and refunded what I'd paid on the first repair. There was a recall but it's long expired.

I think I was just lucky I had it going so long without the logic board going bad.

its just a shame its gone now as it run Monterey thanks to open core legacy patcher with no issues.
