Alright, so I have a MacBook possibly 4th gen? (bought it in fall of 2007) Anyways, recently my MacBook has not been turning on without being plugged in. In the top bar where the battery is it has the battery with a plug and says "(Not Charging)". Every once in a while (maybe 1 of 50 times) it will have an x in the battery. Sorry for my ignorance, but could anyone possibly help me with this problem? I would take it to a mac store but the nearest one is 5 hours away and I am without a car at the current moment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I either need to find out how much it would be to fix and how to fix it or where to go to fix it, or maybe someone could advice on a price I could sell it for (other than this problem perfectly good condition 2.16GHz, 2gb ram, 185gb hd, os 10.5.8.).

Thank you in advance.

Hmmm...I think the problem lies with either the battery or the charger based on what you just posted.

Looking at those figures my preferred option would be to take it to a Certified Apple Repairer to check the charging issue. There were some issues with earlier units not recognising the batteries so u might want to google that.

Ehh, maybe...
But based on the age of his MB, it's time for a new battery. (assuming it's the original battery that came with the MB)

The Apple store online has new batteries for various notebooks. Check it out to see if they carry yours and how much.
