MacBook late 2007 memory increase

I have a MacBook 3,1- Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.2 GHz,

it has 1Gb of DDR2 SDRAM (2 x 512 MB) running at 667MHz or so the system profiler depicts.

Any way, can i increase the memory with say 2 x 4Gb DDR3 = 8Gb

and by doing that increase the performance?

Short answer = no. Wrong memory type, won't fit. Your machine can be upgraded to 4 GB according to Apple, but MacTracker says 6 GB - and they're usually right.

Just to confirm, according to MacTracker, that's 2 x 3Gb SDDR2?

There is no such animal as a 3GB stick of memory.

To get 6, you would use a 2 & 4 GB stick.
