Macbook Air mid-2012 doesnt connect 802.11n

I have a Macbook Air 13' Mid 2012.
Specs are standard and as far as I know from the official apple website, this model support 802.11n mode.
But in fact, having an Airport Express as a home wifi router, Macbook connects in all possible PHY modes, but not the "n" one.
And the speed is maximum 54MBps.

I am using a 2,4 GHz mode.

There is one more strange thing.
Below it shows other wifi networks available and there is one having the same name as mine but with 802.11n!

BSSID of both Andre's Airport are identical except for the last letter.

And the problem shouldn't be because of the country code, other wifi networks have the same BY code, but support 802.11n mode.

2 iPhones in my family are working at 802.11n mode with this router (150 Mbps), just this laptop lags.

Any ideas?

I vaguely recall a paid firmware update for some models of Mac (for $1 IIRC) that activated "N" compatibility, but I could VERY EASILY be misremembering this. Someone else may correct me on the matter, or whether its relevant to this model. I know my mid-2012 works with "N" networks. I am running the latest non-beta El Capitan.

Your machine's report says quite clearly that the Airport card in it (en0) does not support 802.11n, which is why I think you're missing that paid firmware update.

Here's my network info under "Wi-Fi" in the System Report. I don't have an en0:

But at apple website it says my laptop supports that mode. How is that possible mine shows different?

In that case ... <shrug> ... really I have no idea why it doesn't appear to support it. You might investigate the repair history of the machine based on the serial number, perhaps there is a clue to be found there.

That N Enabler was for the older White Macs like early iMacs and Macbooks. My late 2006 C2D fully supported N out of the box so if I remember right it was the one just before that.

To the OP, I am stumped but a question for you. Is your Wifi and that other one that shows N both on the same Channel?

What WiFi router do you own? Something is messing it up and since that other Wifi shows N, that might be the issue although I have never had that issue before here.

For two different channels I understood.
I have airport express which has simultaneous dual band streaming.
It shouldn't be about router, as all other devices are connecting with faster modes.

Network Utility says it has n mode and the speed is 300mbps.
