Macbook Air late 2010 - Blinking globe and firmware password lock

Does anyone know about this? I made the mistake of trying to boot up at startup from an external drive and then I got the blinking globe. Did the alt option during power up and got the padlock symbol and can't seem to get out of this, either the globe or padlock. Tried, pram reset, does not work, tried to reinstall operating system, doesn't work, still get the blinking globe no matter what.

We need more information. Are you the original owner of this MacBook Air? If you're the original owner - did you set a firmware password? The blinking globe means it's attempting to boot from a network. Holding down Option to get a boot choice and the padlock showing up, means a firmware password has been set.
