mac running very slowly after resetting to factory specs

so my mac has been VERY slow ever since resetting it to factory specs the other day. by slow, i mean to the point where its nearly un-usable. the internet will take between 5-15 minutes to load, sometimes longer.. i've downloaded nothing onto it besides google chrome ever since the reset. any ideas? also, it definitely isnt an internet connection issue. i've brought it to different rooms, connected it right to the modem via ethernet cable, and it makes no difference. both of the other computers in the house are running at a fine speed.

i had a very cluttered computer. there was just soo much on my computer slowing it down that i thought i'd start fresh. and resetting it to factory specs means you completely clear out everything from your computer. had to re-install mavericks and everything. it was like i just got it from the store.

Ok thanks for the info...and thanks for letting us know that you are running OS 10.9 (Mavericks). A couple more things we need to know:

- What exact model Mac computer do you have (I mean exact...not just MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac-Mini, etc.)?
- Did you completely wipe the drive...and the only things installed now are the OS (Mavericks & Chrome)? Nothing else from a backup or anything?

You're probably experiencing Spotlight trying to re-index your drive. This should pass once it has completed that task.
