Hi,
thank you for warm welcome.
I have mac pro 2007 from 2013. I both it from private person was working good i installed there 2 my old hard drives with different programs and was happy till now. A few days ago when i start up computer i saw just a grey screen. It was on all hard drives just a grey screen. I went online to get some help and tried all that found there.
i started up reseting ram,
started with terminal, wrote sbin/fsck-fy, it said no such directory, i typed reboot, it said not permuted,
i started with other batons, it was just a grey screen.
i strut up just in safe mode and it starts in safe mode till now on all hd,
i reinstalled lion, the same thing,
i both 4 gb memory on 4 memory steaks, and installed, then i realize that when i open info about this mac computer doesn't see all memory i installed. The memory slot on start up flashes ones with red light may be this is the problem?
Can someone tell me what the problem is , or i just suppose to say good buy to my mac?
thank you, inga

G'day and welcome to the forums.

What model is it? There is a Mac Pro 1.1 2006 A Mac Pro 2.1 also 2007/2008. A Mac Pro 3.1 2008. A Mac Pro 4.1 2009. A Mac Pro 5.1 2010. A Mac Pro 5.1 Server 2010. A Mac Pro 5.1 2012. A 5.1 Mac Pro Server Server late 2012. The Mac Pro 6.1 ;ate 2013 known as the Black Trash Can.

They each have different hardware, memory etc. We do need to know the model. Tne Lion operating system may well indicate it is the Mac Pro 1.1. Have you installed any of the memory? Be aware Macs are VERY fussy about memopry and must have low density modules, not cheaper PC high density modules. This is what I would be checking out first.

What is on 'these old hard drives'. If they are out of say a MacBook, Mini etc expect trouble. Best option is to always format drives of a second hand machine and do a clean install.

Suggest going back to Snow Leopard and staying there as Lion is not as stable. You can still purchase the Snow Leopard DVD from Apple Online posted for $20.00.

I have like I said 3 hd. And snow leopard I have on one of them . But right now I just can run all of them just in safe mode. When I start up different like regular and with buttons I see just a grey screen. But I can work on safe mode. I don't know it can be some hardware issue or not if I can work in safe mode and I don't know why I can not start up regularly and what is the problem. It happened at once with all hfs.

If you have the Snow Leopard DVD I would erase one hard drive and format Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and do a completely new install. Are you getting any error messages or icons with the grey screen?

Does the Mac Pro power down at all and are you using the original graphics card?

No error messages and icons, just mouse pointer in the upper left side of the screen sometimes it turns to whipping top . Power is good it gives a good scheme, I did not changed graphics card, after I both , but I both it from somebody who was doing movies, so I think is okey.
My concern is on memory slot card. It flashes red light when I start up computer and now one of the lith stays on. And I don't now may be this course this problem. I am arising now lion, completely, after I reinstalled, because it reinstall the first time on the hd, where I had some back ups. I removed this had, and now it says it will take 13 hours, I don't know why, because I already erased this he, it forced me to reinstall to the Hewitt back ups, so I removed it after installation and erasing again the right one.
Thank you for you answers, should I change may be memory slot cards?

I created account and on log in it doesn't show me this account, it shows me my old account name. I erased hd absolutely, can someone tell me how my old account could appear. That means that nothing was erased.
Please somebody help me

First up can you clarify what media you are using to erase and clean installation OS X.7 You cannot erase a hard drive that are booted from.

Are you then using anything to migrate old information over which will do precisely what is happening?
