Mac Pro 3.1 Noise on Power Supply

My mac Pro, in last days start to do some noise very annoying...This noise only appear when i pull for your performance. If mac stay in pause, without any program run the noise disappear. I record the noise and put on attachment. Anyone can help me ? Thanks

I didn't listen to the file…because I don't like downloading & opening files from sources I don't know/trust. But from what you describe….sounds to me like the power supply is getting old (starting to fail). And when under a higher than usual load (computer is drawing more power)…it makes the sound.

If it is the power supply…you can either keep using it and wait for it to make a very LOUD "POP" (and a bunch of stinky smoke)..or replace the power supply.

yeah, i understand, but, my question is, can i repair ? it's possible if it's a simple component replacement before this supply burn completely. i think this power supply is very expensive...

Actually you didn't understand. In your first post…your original question was what could the sound be or be coming from?…and I said that it sounded to me that it was the power supply.

Now if your 2nd question is…"Can it be repaired?". Sure it can be repaired…just about anything can be repaired if you can:

- identify the exact part that's going bad in the power supply
- if the part/parts that are going bad can be found/purchased
- if you can do the repair work yourself
- if you have the proper tools

i think this power supply is very expensive...

You could try purchasing a used power supply. Here in the United States a used power supply for a Mac Pro 3,1 via eBay is about $100-$125.
