I upgraded my Mac Mini 2018 (is set up as a server but with a normal OS and hardwired into the network) to OS 15.2 from OS 14 and since than SSD and Other Hard Disks attached to it (Via USB) are very slow to access from the network. And I mean slow. This is compared to previously. Any idea as to why this should be so? Fixes?

Others with more experience of OS 15 & computing in general, may assist you; but for the moment, this is what I think:

OS 15 (Sequoia) is very different from OS 14 (Sonoma) in several areas.

I suspect that much of your slowdown relates to the updating/upgrading of the whole system and I would say that giving it more time to achieve these ends will see things nearer to normal.

Hard Disk Drives will likely take the longer time than SSDs to settle.

These are my thoughts for the present.

What do you mean they need to settle? Do you mean they need to get used to the new OS?

As I said, the whole system has changed and the move from Sonoma to Sequoia offers a lot more options than most recent Upgrades and the changes do take time to "settle" - yes, get used to the new OS if you will. Your setup is different from what might be called the "standard"; nothing wrong with that, it's just a bit more complex.

How long since you Upgraded? If it's a week or more, then other things have to be considered.

Also, you could wait for a more "professional" opinion. As I said, I'm still on Sonoma (mainly because I don't want to face the challenges of Sequoia just yet. I usually wait till a few updates have been made).

Upbraided 2 days ago on the MM and today on the other Macs. Still confused as to what needs to settle.

The "settle" is generally the Spotlight index being rebuilt. It runs in the background at very low priority, so it can take a while, particularly on large drives and drives that are not directly connected (networked drives). Once it is done, things should return to normal.

Have a look at:

also, it’s easily possible that you have stay resident software running that isn’t fully compatible with Sequoia. Make sure that anything that loads on start up is the latest version.
