Mac OS 10.9 "Mavericks" Released

After I installed Maverick OS my Apple mail stopped working. When I click to open the mail, it immediately closes and I get the following message:

"Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000

Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[NSViewController loadView] could not load the "MessageView" nib.'
abort() called terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException"

I'm not sure what that means. Does anyone have my suggestions for me?

An update has been released for Apple Mail. Open your App Store, download the update and then give it another shot.

I am done downloading OSX Maverick, am humbled by terminal (its uses are indicated in earlier posts in this thread), don't even know how to type a reversed / symbol, have in front of me the missing manual for OSX Mountain Lion and want to create a homemade installer flash drive with OSX Maverick on it, in addition to the flash drive I made for OSX Mountain Lion.

1 - Can I use the method described in the missing manual page 796 or is there anything changed to it ? It is described in 2 phases with no mention of Terminal: Format the Drive, using Disk Utility; and Build your installer, using Disk Utility again.

2 - The second question is: can I use the empty partition of the 16 Giga flash drive that I formatted upon moving to Mountain Lion with two partitions: one (6G) for the OSX Mountain Lion installer and one (10G) still empty and formatted Mac OSX (journaled) ? Or is there anything special that makes this empty 10G partition unfit for my purpose ?

TIA and my profound apologies if the questions seem trivial. Replies will help immensely.

I tried, with a new €12.00 flash drive, to use the method above. It failed (it changed the flash drive volume name into "OSX Install ESD" and did not create an installer in it), for the reason explained in the macworld quoted article (that is in page 4 of this thread).

So I used the scary "use createinstallmedia" option proposed by the macworld article, and it worked perfectly, after some scary moments of doubt. When copying and pasting into Terminal the recommended sudo command and literally understanding nothing of what it contains, you need a truckload of faith in its drafter. I have the late 2007 version of OSX, upgraded to Snow Leopard, added 2 gb of ram, now have 4 gb ram, 10.6.8, thinking about downloading Maverick, good idea or bad? Started download but was taking way too long. ShouldI get MountainLion first.?

You now have two questions posted for the same topic. I tried answering your question in the thread you started. And my reponse there was...do you have a reason to upgrade your OS? AND...if you upgrade your OS...will you have compatability issues with software and/or hardware you currently use??

Just a note I find Mavericks in some ways better on that older iMac than Mountain Lion mostly due to Maverick's Memory compression. Seems to use memory in a more efficient manner than Mountain Lion.

I was leery to upgrade to Mavericks as I was a Snow Leopard holdout for the past 4 years. But I did it on my desktop and my MBA. Love it! No complaints. Ran on 4gb ram fine. Due to the programs I use I upgraded to 8gb ram, but it was not necessary unless you are using labour intensive programs.
