Has anyone had the experience of the Mac Mail application suddenly ceasing to apply the "rules" for assigning e-mails to mailboxes? This has happened to me and I haven't been able to find a fix. Thanks in advance for any guidance offered.

No, have not had it happen here.

All rules? a couple of rules?

Is this on a machine you've been using and they just quit working, a clean install or new machine where you imported rules from another computer or backup?

And please provide your version of the OS.

Thanks for the reply, Bob. It's a machine I had been using and I have about 30 'Mail' mailboxes. Rather precipitously, the rules went almost completely awry and with a few exceptions (e-mails addressed to me go into my 'home' mailbox), the distribution of e-mails seems almost random. Rules for e-mails 'from' specified sources are generally disregarded. OS is 10.6.8. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I had some issues like that many years ago. Probably with OSX Panther or Tiger. Not had them in recent times though. I remember re-making the rules deleting and then making new ones and it worked. Been so long.
