For a few months now I have been having problems with my Mac randomly freezing up and restarting itself, or the display freezing and having multiple errors such as when i move windows round some of the pixels stay where the window was before and all kinds of visual errors including 'rainbow-looking' dots appearing on the login screen.

Most recently i've noticed sometimes when i turn on my mac it fails to start 4-5 times before it will actually boot up, and it just restarts itself each time until it works, and after it turned on I was able to get hold of these error logs.

Do these logs outline what the issue is and perhaps what may be causing the other problems I have mentioned?

Welcome to our forums.

First thing to do is remove all those USB devices, and do a PRAM reset also reset the SMC. Start up your iMac and let it run to see if it panics again. Another thing you can do is start up in Safe mode by holding down your shift key and reboot (keep holding it until the Apple appears).

Kernel Panics are usually caused by hardware errors but can also be software related. After you do the above, let us know how it's going. We also need to check your hard drive which we can do a bit later. Let us know which version of OS X you're running.

As chscag suggests, tou have quite a load on your 2009 iMac. Is the mchine trying to boot with all those devices connected via the USB hub? If so that is quite a load, and is your hub mains powered?

Also what is the Thunderbolt Bus, as your iMac was released before Thundedbolt was introduced, in 2011 from memory?
