Thank you Dave for such kind words. The chats that you were in will go down as some of my favorites. We really must get together and discuss music or history or whatever soon. I welcome your input on whatever my future project might be.

Because of the not inconsiderable time difference, I've not watched your chats live, but have caught up with them later. In fact, once, I even featured in one of them. Well, not featured exactly, just mentioned in passing as it were.

IIRC you got mentioned more than once because your response to a question brought out something that might be important for users.

I'm in the process of setting ups a Facebook page so that I can join the FB group Dennis is setting up until we figure out something else.

I'd like to continue with some form of Mac-related video project though it wouldn't be under the Mac-Forums banner. I'm thinking of pushing out one or two short instructional / tip videos per week. If you have ant ideas let me know.

Has anybody put together a mailing list of the "regulars" who come here? That way, in addition to the work on Facebook, we could at least keep up to date when/if a replacement site is found where we could all join up again. We don't all have to have the list, but if there is one, I sure would like to be on it! I've given Dennis my information and connected on Facebook.

And Sly, your contribution here has been spectacular. Thanks for all you did.

@Jake Thanks for the kind words. As one of the regulars it feels like I've known you for ages even though we have never actually met.

@Dennis Jake's idea is a good one but you will have a full plate getting a new forum home started for us. If there's interest in a mailing list of sorts, I can set that up quickly using Contacts and a setup I used for another project a few years ago. All I need is for folks to either post their email address or send me an email.

I'll start a separate thread shortly so that all of the email addresses will be in the same place and I can add them to the list as needed

Sly, to keep the spammer somewhat at bay, I would suggest that we use a format for people to send emails that leaves out the "@". So an email would be:

byname mail-provider.com

You would have to add the @. If that's too much trouble, how about suggesting putting something OTHER than the @. Maybe replace it with &, for example.

byname&mail-provider.com

Then a Find/replace can do the replacing for you.

We need to be careful about gathering email addresses of our forum members. Let's make sure they understand why and that it is completely voluntary. Most folks nowadays have an account on Facebook and since Dennis is sending out invites, that might be best.

Even an old dinosaur like me has a Facebook account. ;D

Maybe those interested can PM Sly with the email address? That way, it's totally voluntary and out of sight of the spammers. Just looking for another way to stay connected while we look for a new home.

That should work. We do have a list of everyone's email address in our data base which we keep up to date for registration and verifying purposes. But it's best if folks who want to stay in touch contact Sly privately like you say.

I've already responded to Dennis' invite on Facebook. There's only a few folks I follow on there and both are in the same business as myself.

Join me at 7:00 p.m. tonight (1:00 a.m. GMT) for the Final Mac-Forums video chat ever. Due to the impending forum shutdown on December 31, 2017 this will be the last show under the Mac-Forums banner. It will likely be a short show unless tons of folks join in. In addition to updating folks on the forum shutdown I'll include a Safari tip or two based upon member questions.

The final show is on YouTube at the link above. If the audio is not working let me know and I will re-record if necessary. Unless the forum owners object I plan to leave the entire archive up in the hops it will be helpful to others.

If you have an idea for a good Mac-related video project post it in the comments for that show. I'm going to go forward with something but I'm not sure just what at the moment.
