Yeah, but even then, it's still pricey.

Prestone makes a "compatible" version that's $14 a gallon, which is what I got, but the GM version is $20 a gallon, and I have an S-10, with which that coolant will last me about three months.

Uhh!? Antifreeze down here is like $10.00 a gallon or less. And that is compatible with all brands of antifreeze including Dexcool. We get our cooling system serviced once a year at the beginning of summer, if we do it that often.

Chevy S-10s are notorious for blowing through coolant. The cooling systems in the second gen S-10s are not the best design in the world, so they get hot and eat coolant up real quick.

Plus, Dexcool has been proven to be horrible for many cars anyway. There's a class action suit against Chevy that I took part in because I had to have my cooling system "de-sludged" after using Dexcool in it. Luckily I switched to Prestone's version which is a lot more chemically stable than GMs version (Halvoline, I believe, made it for GM).
