Gah, almost got into a fight with a client today. His son brought in the dog last week, and didn't have any money. So we kept the Heartgard, and told him that when the bill was paid, that he could come in and get it.
Well, today Dad came in with $40, the bill was $100. He wanted to take just the Heartgard, and send is a check later for the remaining $60. I told him no, and that once the entire bill was paid, he could have the meds. He didn't like that, and tried to grab the Heartgard from me. By this time he was yelling at me.
I told him to deal with it, and if he didn't like it, he could wait til a doctor arrived and argue with him about it, and that he wasn't getting anything until he gave me $100.
He opened up on me about how he's on a fixed income, and that his dog needs this because he lives in the woods. He said he's been coming here for a long time and that he shouldn't be treated like this.
Once the doctor came and told him that he wasn't getting the meds until after the bill was paid, and credit card magically appeared and paid the bill.
Gah, I hate these dirt bags that think they can walk all over us just because they say they'll mail us a check. Its not our problem if you don't have the money. If you can't afford to pay the pet's bills, then you shouldn't have one.
