I just got home to my parent's house for the weekend to realize that my new black Speck See-Thru case came in the mail from Apple! It looks fantastic on my MBP! I don't seem to have any problems with anything being lined up incorrectly as some of the reviews said. The screen also opens up enough for my personal preference so no problem there.

I also sprayed out my optical drive with some of that canned air. Hopefully that will solve my CD/DVD burning issue. I haven't been able to burn anything because I always got this weird error message saying that "the device was unable to calibrate the laser power level"? I'll test it out tonight and burn a music CD. Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

Ahhh....nice 3 day weekend to relax. I've been busy at work for the latter part of the week (we're implementing an electronic health records package for the Health Center at the University I work at). I'm out of town, enjoying the lovely Georgia Coastline in St. Mary's, GA. I will take a trip to the Apple Store in Jacksonville, FL tomorrow to get my iPhone checked out. It hasn't been responding to my finger swiping to answer calls lately (very annoying). Other than that, just taking it easy, hoping to get some reading in. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

3-Day weekend? must be nice!

My day was a 6-Hour workday followed by a dentists trip to get fillings. And to find out I need my wisdom teeth pulled. All Four. Who knew I had wisdom? :p

Hey hey hey,
we both have 533 DA PowerMac G4's.
Dontcha just looove them?
Any other 533 DA owners? Anyone?

Anyway,
someone I havent even met requested me on facebook. Hes older than I am but he goes to my school. I felt like meeting someone new and i approved, and he as written on my wall 3 times and ive written on his like 7 (dang 1000 character limit),
yet it feels like i've known him for YEARS. He's so interesting. Out of the 3 days i've talked to him on facebook, he hasn't been online for the last 2 :-(. I can't stop thinking about him though (in a non creepy/love way),
i find i have a hard time connecting with people, I can't really have an actual conversation with ANYONE, and its always been so frustrating for me. BUt with him it's not like that at all. But it's so creepy how I obsess about him and i've talked to him like 3 times and i've never even met him, but honestly, i haven't had an actual conversation in FOREVER. It feels good. I wake up in the morning and think about getting home and checking my facebook.
Kinda creepy though.......i'm glad he won't read this because that would be AWKWARD. He would say something like, "Hey, remember how you OBSESSED about me on that forum?" LOL. IDK, i just really like him, I think we could be really good friends. I love that feeling, don't get it much though.

So how is everyone else feeling?

I'm feeling great, I just got done talking to my dad for about 2 hours. It's always nice to just talk to him about things going on in each others' lives since he works all the time and I'm always away at school.

Tanner, I know how you feel about just connecting with someone. Usually I know when I'll become good friends with someone by the first couple of conversations I will have with them when I meet them. Although, you haven't met this person yet just don't go trusting him too much. I've seen some of my friends that met people online, and when they met them in person, it was like they acted totally differently.

Tanner, I'm with Todd on this. Be careful.

I grok how difficult it is to have conversations with people, and can understand the euphoria of being able to suddenly connect with someone, online or offline. Try to look at it this way. It's possible for you to connect with someone. It's possible to have a conversation with someone. Now you have to figure out how to make that work with the people in your life. You can do it. It just takes time, a little effort, and believing you can do it.

Ok tanner, I think accepting that friend request was not a good idea. I only accept the request if I've know the person, and have seen them before. If you see the person at your school then thats fine, but for a guy that has never seen you writing on your wall 3 times is a little suspicious. Before you talk to him again I would see if you could find him at school.

Just curious, and you don't have to share, but what was the first thing he said to you on your wall?

Great. My brother is really ticked off at me and Apple (it makes me feel bad when someone is angry with Apple, don't quite know why.) He has a 30GB iPod video 5.5 Gen and a MacBook(both of which used to be mine, and in great condition. now they both are scratched, and look very dirty). The battery needed to be replaced, so a few days ago we shipped it off to Apple. They for some reason could not fix the device, so they're shipping us a replacement device. On Thursday, his HDD in his MacBook died. Of course, being the stupid person he is, he didn't make a backup, on CDs, or didn't take advantage of the fact he has Leopard and Time Machine. If I had a nickel for every time he slammed the MacBook closed or threw it on the couch turned on, I could buy Apple and still be richer than Bill Gates.

He's not mad at himself at all for not backing up (stupid him) he's purely mad at Apple for not just repairing his iPod and sending it back to him. Complete CRAP. He didn't listen to me at ALL when I asked him if he had everything backed up, he said yes, but now apparently he doesn't. I hate my brother, he has to take it out on me, the person who was nice enough to order the box, manage everything with Apple, UPS and DHL so he wouldn't have to. What a rat's behind.

Is there any way Apple will let him redownload it?

My weekend is going alright thus far. I ha d a trip to the Apple Store in Jacksonville today, the guy at the Genius bar replaced my iPhone right away without any hassle. Kudos to him!!! It did start pouring rain though, so it's real crappy outside today. I'm getting ready now to go bowling with the fam tonight!!! Maybe I'll be able to break 100 (I've managed to suck at all sports including bowling)!!! On a separate note:

1. Tanner.....I think it' definitely cool to meet new folks (part of the reason I'm active on this forum!), but please be cautious. I think it would be a god idea (this is just my opinion) to go out with him and one (or many) of your friends. At least for a time or two, so you can really get to know him first. Outside of that, go for it. I have problems meeting new people also. Between working all the time, and class.........I really don't get much social time that's not online. Living in South, GA really limits my ability to meet people that are open minded, and Apple friendly! So that being said, anyone that ever wants to cht, hit me up on AIM (jofus15).

2. iRye, sorry about your bro. I hate it when people mistake their faults and misunderstanding on others. It is easy to be discouraged by a brand if you have multiple products that go bad at once. On the other hand, you have to take care of electronics. You can't throw them around, ad expect them to work!

Thanks man. Sometimes I love Apple so much that I take offense when people make invalid complaints and bash them. Today just isn't my day: my dad refuses to let me pay my own money to go pick up my cell phone, we were at London Drugs and the TELUS store is like across the street, but:

Me: Ok, let's go to the TELUS store...
Dad: Do you need your phone today NOPE let's go and he pushes me out of the store.

I hate my brother, and I hate my dad. He makes threats like a TV dad from the '50s, he told me to screw off today, and he's overall just a jerk. My brother is a little piece of crap, too.

Thanks for your advice everyone. I am being careful as to not do all that crap you arent supposed to do online. Before i approved him i asked some people who he was and head some nice things about him, then someone who knew him pointed him out in the hall one day so i sorta stalked him (just kidding). The first thing he said to me, well, I said hello to him, then he said hi and asked me how my day was. Then i went into an elaborate thing about how boring my day was, and apparently it made my day seem interesting because he compared my day and his day, my day was a new napkin and his day was a napkin used by a guy who ate BBQ ribs. Which one would you rather use? Thats what he asked me lol. But yeah, anyway.

iRye, i feel for you. I've come to the conclusion that giving NICE apple products to your family/friends is generally a bad idea when they are in good condition, as you get REALLY ticked when you see the thing again and its cracked/scratched/abused.....Im never giving my brother another iPod, thats for sure. He put stickers all over it and the $30 leather case now has white out and sharpie on it and apparently he thinks it looks cool.
It doesn't. But in the end your family is your family and you would be lost without them, no matter how much you hate them ;)

Anyway, my family recently made the purcase of a Rainbow vacuum cleaner, because somehow we managed to get approved despite HORRIBLE credit. Those dang salesmen are so convincing. But our carpets are sick anyway, we needed one.

No problem. But your brother SHOULD be more appreciative of the MacBook and iPod. How much are MacBooks going for these days? THey are quite beautiful........but i'll admire from a distance because I doubt i'll be getting one anytime soon! This clamshell is quite slow with only 192mb of ram and panther.....too bad i cant use the lombard ram....dang low profile. I think it would be fun if Apple brought back the clamshell, core2duo clamshell anyone? ;)

A year ago today I joined Mac-Forums. A half hour after joining, my first MacBook arrived. Over the last year I've come to meet lots of great people at M-F, I earned the honor of being a Member Of The Month, and I've done things I've never done before.

For instance, I'm in the process of making my 3rd book. I've dabbled in podcasts. More importantly, I've come to actually - dare I say it - enjoy my computer. I'm in technolove with my iPhone. I did have some trouble with my first MacBook, a refurb, though I've had trouble with other computers in the past too. I'm still in love with my 2nd MacBook though and it's a great little machine. It's the perfect Mac for me.

I don't do well with people, but here things seem to fit okay. It's a tribute to the folks who visit this great place. It's also a tribute to the folks who run this great place.

So. I raise my coffee mug to all you folks out there and say,

"Thank you all for making this a great year! Cheers to you!!!!" :D

Congratulations MO and cwa!

Hope everyone is having a lazy Sunday. Right now I'm settling in to watch some football in an hour. I'll probably keep working on coding my website. I also am getting a little nervous. I have a phone interview tomorrow for a summer internship.

Thank you Todd!

Good luck with the interview! Hope it goes well.

At the moment I'm starting the packing process. Tomorrow I travel to Florida for the week on business. Mostly it's a week indoors in meeting rooms. Rah. But it's bloody cold here and warmer down there if probably rainy during the week. Today is my weekend, one day. 'Sokay, I'll get two 3 day weekends in a row after this trip. ^_^

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable day!
