Be ready to pay more in tuition if the state can't come up with the budget increases required to keep the CalState and UC systems going.
Yep, rates already were raised here, although it was only by $6.

Yep. My oldest goes to a CalState and she's not happy. Good thing it's not my money she's spending...

UCs are talking a 30+% increase next year...

If it does go up 30%, how much are you looking at (if you don't mind me asking)?

For UCSC after the rise in fee cost for living on campus it would total out to be $34,239 for the year. I'm really glad that I did not go right there. That also does not include courses that include other fees with them such as Embedded systems design and such.

And right now at my community college I just spent $430 for fees for 12 units. I still have to register for the course at the other college which will be around 4 to 6 units.

Ouch. Well, I hope for your benefit, the fees don't increase all that much next year.

So I got my braces off today after wearing them for over 2 years. I go back to get my retainer on January 25th, and to do the last finishing touches for my alignment, I have to use a "Pre-Finisher". If you are not familiar with it, it's a mouthguard type rubber piece that has impressions of a perfect alignment on both sides (one for the top row, one for the bottom row). In order for it to be fully functional, I have to bite down on it in 10 - 20 second intervals for at least an hour everyday (I will be wearing it more to be safe) until I get my retainers.

Right now, my teeth are kinda hurting (I guess from biting down hard for long periods of time), and my jaw is getting pretty tired from doing the exercises (it was described that way in the manual). Whew!

But I am very glad I got my braces off. Kind of funny procedure, my orthodontist basically just took a plier-like tool and ripped my brackets off. Then he used a dremel like drill with a diamond tip to polish off the cement (which HURT). Still awesome though! :D

Awesome, cuhnool - glad to hear they're finally off.

I only wore them for about a year, but I remember what a relief it was to get them removed. It was so nice not to have the constant adjustments (man I remember that making my teeth sore). And then the feeling of not having them there is so strange.

You're right, they just kinda yank those things off and then grind down the cement. What an awful procedure!

It was pretty awful. The diamond tip grinding on my teeth was probably the most unpleasant experience. The grinding was like fingernails scraping a chalkboard.

I am extremely peeved right now. I cannot purchase a license for MAMP Pro with a "free email address". I tried doing it with a credit card and PayPal, no dice. Guess they don't want my $60 that badly then.

They fail to explain why they will not allow online purchasing with free or free-based accounts.

I purchase ONLY by credit card or PayPal. No other. Oh well.

Picked up the first 5 seasons of Lost on B-R a few weeks ago.

Gotta say, if you're a Lost fan, the visuals are stunning.

Someone who thought ipads would have many different sized screens came up with this. 17" ipad on a imac stand with a bluetooth keyboard.

Funny :)

I guess you could say I "toured" with a band called Moira Darling, local to where I'm living now. We got to go "VIP" with them since my lover is friends with the band, and well I am too now. :)

We went to Toronto yesterday with the band (the ride was a blast in the van), to see them perform with 7 other bands at a battle of the bands final round. We left at 2:30PM yesterday, and didn't get home till about 6AM today.

They completely destroyed the opposition and won $20000 worth of studio/rehearsal time, gear, money, etc.

The crowd wasn't huge, but it was the wildest mosh I've been in, in ages. Being with them in the van has made me mis touring, and playing in a band :(

Congrats guys! (not that they'd ever see it here haha)

I also made some good connections with people in the music industry, so it'll help me nicely once I get my studio/label started.

Oh WOW... my last post on this thread was in 6/10/2008, man I guess I've been away for quite some time.

Hope everyone is doing well. I see a whole lot of new faces. That is AWESOME. Hopefully I will have more time to lurk around the forums more often.
