I know what your saying, I personally don't have any student loans, but my other-half's younger brother is at Uni, he started just before they got into Parliament!

I am doing a 3 year foundation degree, so I will be paying £6000 - £9000 in my last year.

I would have voted labour, but my 18th was 17 days after the election.

Well i'm going to do it, finally after a long long time debating to myself about it, i'm going to get an SSD. Found the Crucial C300 128GB SSD to be the one to get as it blows alot of other competitors out of the water in benchmark and even real-life tests. Found one here on Amazon, just slightly cheaper than crucial are selling them for but Amazons free postage usually gets things to me within 1-2 days of ordering. I should hopefully be ordering it in the next few days, so while i'm waiting for the money to get it, any thoughts and comments?

good on you mate. im gonna hold out on getting an SSD until i've finished building the computer in my G5 mod. It's the only thing ill need blazing performance for. I was gonna go OCZ, but im not too sure of their representation. probably go for a 40GB one to be honest, ill use it for OS only.

Seems like a good deal.

Personally, I'm holding out for full TRIM support in OS X, and also for the drives to mature and come down in price a bit. I need at least 200GB to be comfortable, and I'm not willing to spend $500 on one at the moment.

Bluetooth is pretty strong, I was pairing up a device of mine with my computer, when I actually found my neighbors iMac in the BT setup list. The houses are rather close though. But still interesting, plus I didn't know he was a Mac user. :p

Hmm, I just tried that myself. It seems that there's a girl near me with a MacBook. A great way to introduce myself perhaps? "Hi, it seems that you have Bluetooth enabled on your machine. I thought I'd come over here and introduce myself seeing as how we both use Macs and have an interest in wireless technologies." I get the feeling that would work really well ;).

She probably named her computer with her name. Say her name and introduce yourself, she might be freaked out, or think you're a creeper. It's a win-win!

She did name it after herself so I got that. I could always play the "yeah, we met at <insert random common name>'s party a while back but you forgot to give me your number." There is always the stalker card on the very slight chance that she'd appreciate that. Hahaha.

I wonder what people would think if they found the name of my MacBook - "The Illuminati's MacBook"

One of the owners is out today. His 18 yr old daughter works as a part time receptionist.

Asked her, where's your dad today?

She says, "Oh, he went to Houston today to see James Taylor in concert...

Whoever that is."

Hunh?????

She's also never heard of:
Fleetwood Mac
CCR
The Doors
and the list goes on...

Man, I must be gettin' old......
Beginning to sound just like my dad use to. "What is that .... you're listening to?"

Forgot how much I enjoy riding bike. My Schwinn "hybrid" (mountain) bike has been sitting in my shed for at least 15 years now. Now that both of my boys are old enough to be on regular bikes (albeit with training wheels), I decided to get it out and ride with them.

It felt pretty weird getting back on it again, but I guess you never forget. I had to take it into the bike shop to get it tuned up. They ended up replacing one of the shifters, both tires (they were starting to dry-rot, although they still held air) and just basically getting it adjusted and road-ready. The shop is so nice, it's rare to see a successful mom and pop shop like that anymore - they didn't even try to sell me a new bike, just basically did what it needed and only charged my about $125. I was so impressed that I bought a hitch-mounted bike carrier for $200 (a pretty decent deal I later found out, looking at Amazon for the same model).

I took it out on the road today a bit, riding around with my kids before the rain started up again, and found that I really enjoyed it. I could stand to lose a few pounds, so hopefully I'll be able to get out a lot this summer.

It's not about getting old , we just are 21 with 29 years of experience. :)
Not knowing CCR and The Doors is a crime though.
Where is the Woodstock generation ?

I had a similar thing earlier this month when my youngest daughter wanted to go see Justin Bieber .... when I did some research on this character, I was asking myself what has become of this world :)

Cheers ... McBie

What passes for "talent" these days is amazing to me. I was reminded of it watching The Black Eyed Peas performing at the Super Bowl. In a world with auto-tune, just about anyone can be a star, I suppose.
