I'm thinking of taking the plunge, after then new MBPs come out...is there a MAc equivalent to the Windows freeware program, Magic Mail Monitor? Link here:

It's a POP3 mail monitor, that just sits in the system tray and notifies you when you have new e-mail. I like it, because it allows me to act my own human spam filter--no false positives this way. If there's some similar Mac program, I'd appreciate hearing about it, thanks...
Wouldn't just about any mail program notify you of new emails? If so, wouldn't something like Thunderbird serve the same purpose?
Also, on a general note for this thread, I second the recommendation of The Unarchiver. In fact I use it INSTEAD of Stuffit. More full-featured at the free price point, and it even beats the native OS X utility at speed.
