Does it happen with existing contacts or with new contacts? You might have some corrupt data that's causing this problem.

If a re-install didn't fix it, it leads more credence to not being a Contacts application issue.

Are you syncing your contacts from your Apple ID or do you have local contacts on your machine? If the former, you might want to try go into Sys Prefs->Apple ID and unchecking the Contacts option. Going into Contacts and confirming that everything is gone and then re-checking it to get them all back and see if that resolves it.

If you are dealing with local contacts, you might might want to Export your contacts and then delete all of the contacts and re-import and see if that resolves the issue.

Appreciate the input... will check that.

If I mod existing contact, it will crash.

I'm thinking something similar to what Ashwin mentioned regarding "corrupt data"...or something else the macOS may be "confused" about.

If no solution is found:

* First thing is reboot the computer & see if that helps.
* 2nd. If you don't already have it installed...download & install the great maintenance app called "Onyx". Open it...and run it on it's default settings...then reboot.

Be super sure to download the correct version of Onyx for the macOS version you have installed:

Good luck,

Nick
