Hi all,
I've been looking for a 2TB SSD and have seen a Samsung T7 for A$599.00. I've got a T5 1TB and am pleased with it, wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.
Edit to ask if there's anything different to SSD's that are for gaming. I don't do gaming so if they're OK for normal use as in back ups, that suits me.

Samsung's T7 is what I have. It is incredibly fast and reliable. Significantly faster than the T5.

I use mine for a CCC backup and the initial BU takes under 30 minutes, and the subsequent incremental BUs run out at 3 minutes and 20 seconds. This speed is essential if you ever have to reboot your Mac from it and/or clone back to your Mac.

Such expensive SSDs are not necessary for Time Machine BUs because speed is less of an issue.

Does that help?

Thanks to both of you for the replies. I'd just like to say that money's no object, but I can't, as it is. As much as I like my T5 1TB Samsung (thanks Ian) I'll put an order in for the Micron. I have a Micron in the laptop that I'm using now; installed by yours truly and it's been working faultlessly for some time now.

You guys spending some serious bucks on large capacity external SSD's! I'm sure they're great units...just a bit "spendy" for me.

For my needs (which are usually small)...I use an external 512 GIG SSD for $52.99 + $7.99 for an external case.

Here's a 1 TB SSD for $109. Just add an inexpensive external case...and you got 1 TB of relatively inexpensive external storage:

Sure it may not be quite as zippy as the more expensive units mentioned above. But it's still an SSD (much faster than an spinner external HD). If all you need is additional external storage...it (or something similar to it)...very doable at a much lower price-point!:)

Thanks Nick. I ordered the Micron last night, my time and didn't see your reply until today. I'll remember it for next time though.
Edit: Sorry, I meant Crucial.
