Hello, as my title says, I'm looking for a video downloader program for OSX that bypasses the blocks or age-restrictions on Youtube and that works on any other video websites like Rumble or Odysee, etc. If you know of one that is free or even if it costs money that is fine as long as it works for my purposes. Or maybe a Firefox plugin extension, or Chrome.

Currently, I use many different types of extensions and OSX programs that don't seem to get past some Youtube blocks. I use ClipGrab mostly, MediaHuman has some great programs as well, I use most of those, JDownloader2 is too overcomplicated, and I use some online rippers like y2mate.com, keepv.id, en.loader.to, savethevideo.com.

This lineup of tools to rip vidz has been quite effective for many years but some times I come across a video like this -
and I put the link through all of my rippers and none of them seem to work, regardless of me being signed in on Youtube. Any thoughts or recommendations on a ripper that is unstoppable? thank you.

You already have it, but ClipGrab is wildly popular because it is free, and it usually works.

It's only for YouTube, but this product is awesome. It is a stand-alone YouTube viewer (no Web browser necessary) that blocks YouTube ads, tracking and the stealing of your private information, and it allows videos to be download right from within the program.

FreeTube (free) (Mac OS 11 and later required)

I agree totally. It works for just about any site; in fact I haven't encountered a site for which it didn't work - yet!

@MacBiter yeah I have that program, it used to work great but now I can't find any version of it that works anymore?

@Randy B. Singer and @IWT yes I agree with both of you guys, ClipGrab is superb and works for just about everything, but it won't for these "Age-Restricted" Youtube video restrictions despite I have a 50 yrs. old birthday in my Google settings. So I'm not sure why I'm getting blocked? The Lyme Disease video is undownloadable for me with ClipGrab, does it work for you?

@gypsey I never heard of OBS before but researching it now. Do you mean OBS Studio - obsproject.com? It looks to be for creating your own content instead of ripping, unless I can't find the right company you are saying? thank you though.

(I forgot to add that I need the program to download playlists and Clipgrab can't do that, nor extensions).

Accessing age restricted content on YouTube is going to take a lot more than a downloader. That content isn't available unless you provide proof of your age. That means that you need to a Google account and age verification. I strongly doubt that you will be able to get around that.

Sorry, My misunderstanding of the term ripper or ripping. OBS is perfect for screen recording once you get it on screen.

I use QuickTime Player for this. Would OBS offer anything that QT doesn't?

@Randy B. Singer just researching this now - "To access age-restricted content or services, we may ask to confirm your age with a valid government ID, or a valid credit card." ...and there is zero chance of me doing that! I don't need my card numbers out there all the time for bank fraud or NSA data collection in Tooele.

But I did find this other route if it works, I don't know? - "By using a VPN (also ensure that the server you're connecting to is not in a jurisdiction where ID verification is required)" ...so maybe by creating a new Goog account in Malaysia (or wherever it doesn't matter), using an ISP proxy from there, just to download some PBS Frontline documentaries from back home ...minga! :/

QT Player is limited in that it requires a third party audio plugin to record just audio. The video output formats are also limited.
OBS (Studio) requires no extra plugins and it has multiple video and audio formats.
If you do try it, it looks complicated until you get the hang of it but when you do you will never look back.

my QT 10.4 works in recording audio without a plugin, the OBS is something I will look into to edit YouTube video content which I'm going to start doing, but I can't use it to bypass YouTube blocks to rip videos from them. I'll be looking into the VPN detour route with new Goog accounts.
