Hi. MB Pro 7,1, mid 2010, intel core 2 duo. 8 GB Ram, new SSD (OWC Mercury Electra) 1 TB. Updated to High Sierra. Notice that there is a longer startup time when the chime is first heard. Anyone have this problem?

How much longer? If it is annoyingly long, sometimes this is due to a device that was previously attached to your Mac, or your network, that your Mac still expects to discover on startup, and it waits for it to mount, only eventually timing out and continuing with startup. Look in System Preferences for any devices that are no longer attached.

Did you replace the HD cable when you replaced the drive?

I guess I have to echo others here, how long does it take to boot to the login screen from off?
