Until recently, I had not been able to get the audio on my new C920 webcam working when using FaceTime on my new Mac mini. Audio worked on all other apps, like Photo Booth, Quicktime and Audacity, but not Facetime.
I called Apple support chat, and ended up with a senior tech.
The resolution for me was to open Spotlight, enter Midi, which opens the Audio Midi Setup app, and select "Format: 32,000 Hz. The Audio Midi Setup app is also under Applications -> Utilities
