Locked file Rookie question

I'm trying to create a project in iMovie 11. iMovie's default locations are very limited so I need to add a couple geographic locations. I was able to search the net to find out how to do this but when I try editing the WorldLocations.txt file it's locked. I can't edit it. How do I either unlock the file or give my self permission to edit? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not big into editing those type of files myself. So, I'd probably create the duplicate and do your editing there. After saving a copy of the original somewhere, then try replacing it with the one you have edited. At least then you can restore the original if it's not working.

To change permissions, you would right click on the file and select Get Info - Permissions will be at the bottom of that window.

Ok, rather than edit the file. I did a little more digging and found out how to add a location within iMovie. It's pretty simple actually. Just enter the Latitude and Longitude for for the desired city in the locations field then enter a display name. It's kind of a pain because it doesn't appear to save the new city to the list, but oh well.
