Lock symbol next to iPhone backup

Hey guys.

I need to delete & restore my iphone as its doing something weird (advise from mac store).

i have synced & backed up my phone in iTunes and the backup is showing up with a small Lock symbol next to it - please see image below.
Will this backup be fully functional for to resort with? Just want to double check.

I believe this means you put a password on those backups (encrypted them), per the checkbox in iTunes.

I believe it means that he encrypted the backups per the option in iTunes. And yes that would require a password key as indicated by chas_m.
