Line In Sound problems

Recently I have been trying to capture video through my MAC G4, I am using analog not DV. I connected everything and the video comes through just fine. But everytime I try to set the sound (line in) the sound stops but the video comes out fine and keeps on going. The programs dont work on OSX but they work on OS9...

Please help!

G4 1Ghz OS X 10.4.7
Maybe this article will help - as my first guess is OS X doesn't like analog stuff...
