Mudcrabs, are those wild birds? Thats awesome that you have so many parrots just hanging around in your yard.

I've had these cockatiels for about a week and a half now. They're starting to trust me. Some will take less time. They're starting to eat spray millets from my hand, but they won't like it if I just stick my hand in there. The white one trusts me more, the other is a bit skiddish still.

Males talk and whistle, females usually just whistle. It takes alot of time to teach a male to talk, and they don't speak very clearly. Theres no way of telling if its male or female unless you test its DNA. They're also quite messy. They have that whole side of my desk to themselves, everyday I have to clean up all the food they fling out of the cage around my desk...

This is the first time that the gray one has sat on the edge of the cage. Took this pic just now.

Yes they are wild, rainbow lorikeets, scaly breasted Lorikeets, Galahs, Sulpha crested Cockatoos, short and long billed Lorikeets and grass parrots.
We have them every morning and evening for a feed, we grow Sunflowers for the Sulpha crested cockatoos and they just trash the plant's when the arrive..lol

I'll try and find some more pictures if anyone is interested.:spook:

California has a Mediterranean climate. Amazon parrots are not common here, but in our town there are many hundreds of wild green Amazon parrots. According to a local bird guide, there are many different species, but we only can identify two. The story goes that a few pairs escaped a Pasadena pet shop fire and adopted to the environment. We truly enjoy seeing them around. They hang around our yard a lot, because in each season we have some kind of fruit available on each of our seven fruit trees. I think, their favorites are figs, appricots and persimmons. It is especially funny when you see a pair hanging up side down from the telephone wires, side by side courting.

We have a similar story in the UK about Wild Big Cats (Puma's, Jaguar's,etc) that roam the English Countryside after being freed years ago.

However there is two obvious problems with that, the Countryside is now covered in Concrete and it appears the same Drunk Scottish Lads who see Loch Ness every year have seen these Big Cats.

I prefer your story mainly because it could be real.

Anyway, I've been taking my Dog out in the Park alot lately as it enters Summer, I have to get a picture of him when he's chasing those Squirrels it's hilarious...He never has a chance. lol

That is really funny.
My story about the parrots are absolutely true. I have never been drunk in my life and I have never done any illegal drugs.
We do have those Cats which we call Mountain Lions, and also some brown bears here, in the hills. It is dangerous to take your dogs with you on walks when you go hiking in the mountains. The main reason is that it is easier to defend yourself if you don't have to worry about a pet. The best advice they give us is to look big by elevating our arms and roaring at the Big Cats or the Bears. I don't think I can get any type of sound out of my mouth if I ever see one, let alone roaring back at one of those.
Some people who live in the properties up against the hills have to be also careful about walking around in the dark or letting their pets in their back yards. It has made the news that a mountain lion could maul a rottweiler.
Our gardner has three rottweilers and he said one day he found them all cuddled in his garage not knowing what the reason was. Then, when he went to his front door, a mountain lion was waiting.
No harm done. Usually, you can scare them away, I am told. Or, call the animal control.

I had to stare at the photo for a while to figure out which way the cat's head was pointing. Then, I discovered the nose. Nice photo.
