Hi all.

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro running Mojave 10.14.3.

There are a couple of programs listed in Legacy Software in the System Information.

Is there any way to remove these entries?

Thanks in advance,

Davva

What programs are listed? Are they installed as part of macOS?

Then you should be able to just drag them to the trash.

I have a few listed, some for my printer, and others included with macOS.

I tried that. It won't let me drag them anywhere.
Edit won't allow me to cut and there is no option for Move to Trash.

You can't do it while in System Information. Open a Finder window, select Applications in the sidebar, then find the programs you want to delete.

The programs are not in the Applications folder. I have already deleted them.

I just want to clear them from the System Information.

Do you have backup drives attached? If so, the SysInfo can be reading from those drives. To test, detach the backup drives and then start Sys Info again. If they disappear, don't worry about them, they are just in the backup and not affecting anything.

If they are still there, use EasyFind or Find Any File to search for them on the drive.

I don't have any backup drives attached.

I will try Easy Find.

There may be some vestiges of these apps located in Users/[home folder]/Library/Application Support or in Library/Application Support. If you don't see either of these Library folders, they may be hidden. Use CMD + SHIFT + . (period) to toggle view hidden files/folders on/off.

OK, I downloaded EasyFind and ran it. I found several instances of the program in question
and I removed all of them.
I emptied the Trash and then restarted.
The programs are still listed in System Information.

I have cleared the instances in Library/Application Support.

In System Information under Legacy Software, I see the full path to the application listed when I click on the name of the application. That should help you identify where that legacy system was last seen by the MDS process when it inventoried your drive.

Yes, I understand. I have removed the programs from those locations but they still show in Sys Info.

Then I don't know what to tell you. I just wouldn't worry about it unless it's causing issues. Maybe it will disappear after a while.

Open System Preferences, then Spotlight. Uncheck one of the options on the tab to remove it from Spotlight. Now close System Preferences. Reboot. Now open Sys Pref again and check what you unchecked.

That process will force a reinventory of your drive by Spotlight and that will, in turn, eventually show up in System Information. It may take a while, depending on how big the drive is and how many files you have on it, so be patient. It could be a couple of days before the inventory is completed. (It runs in the background and is low priority, so it goes slowly when it has to inventory the entire drive, which is what the process forced.)

Or you can just wait and eventually they should disappear from Sys Info. May I ask why that's important to you? Is there some reason to want them out of there immediately?

It's not that important. A couple of days is fine. I'm still learning about Macs so things like this are good for me.

Well, it's now been 4 days since I carried this out and it is still the same.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

I just want to make sure of one thing. When you look at Legacy Applications, in the upper right window is listed the application and in the lower right window is the information about that application, including location. Are you not seeing that? If you can see where they are, you can then go there and eliminate or uninstall them, if they are not part of the system itself.
