Finally, I ordered the 15.4” expandable rolling brief from Briggs and Riley. I should get the delivery in a few days. I am so excited, cannot wait to start using it. Thanks everyone for helping me decide!

Glad you found something that suits you.

You didn't actually pay $370 for it though, right?

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
LOL as this is the longest thread that I have seen on a choice of carry bag/laptop case, and is another reason why Mac Forums rocks.
Also, so good to see you so excited about the purchase!
Nice work Gabrielle, and as much as you say we all helped, and I wonder if we didn't just complicate the issue and make the decision that much more trivial, at the end of the day..... Sorted!

I hope not.... then again, I'm always gobsmacked by these prices that I see for all these bags and cases online!
I would have thought AU$50-$150 for something like that based on what I see in shops here down under :p

I was shocked when I saw that as well. I could see $100 (US) for a very nice rolling carry-on bag like this, but nearly $400 is just silly, especially when every luggage manufacturer in existence makes a similar model.

My only recommendation is that you look for a case that is "top loading". Many bags use a clamshell design, that is not exactly friendly for airport security. With a top-loader, you can easily unzip a single zipper and pull the machine out.

Also, I would avoid leather, since it scuffs and looks old very quickly.

I have an older Wenger (Swiss Army) bag that is made of neoprene and is a top loader. It has plenty of storage for files, and other miscellaneous items. Also, has a nice front pocket that expands and can fit just about anything. After 3 years of constant back-and-forth to work, it's still in great shape - and it wasn't terribly expensive either (about $50 at Staples).

Yeah, I think this was the one I was referring too. I love mine and protects it really well.

I did actually pay that much for the Briggs and Riley rolling brief. For me, the lifetime warranty (http://www.briggs-riley.com/simple-as-that-lifetime-warranty/) they offered was a stamp of faith they have in the quality and durability of their own products. And if you consider how long I can use this bag given the lifetime warranty offer, $370 didn’t seem like a huge price to pay. Also, for me the overall experience the bag offered matters a lot. The image of the brand is part of that experience and one can’t really put a question mark on Briggs and Riley’s image and brand value in the market.
