I don't think that is normal at alljust watching YouTube videos;
I quite agree, I've watched hours of videos almost uninterrupted since the Mini was new with little bother, tho the machine can get quite hot, especially if connected to a snail server.

The issue is recent, perhaps the past week or two, when I've noticed the internal fan making a distinct scraping noise when operating.
I would try to find the root cause first.
See above re repair booking. Thanks for your input.

Update: after a week's stay at the Mac hospital, the gurus seem to think the overheating problem is with the logic board and how it is not kicking the fan into life soon enough. There is no actual hardware problem with the fan, its intake (other than dust bunnies) or its exhaust.

As the current logic board is the second one since the Mini was bought new in late 2018, I'm informed it will be replaced under consumer law as it applies in NZ.
