Technology advances, and old technology becomes "obsolete." But as long as it still does what you bought it for, don't worry too much. Did you really expect your PowerBook/Power Mac/iPod/electric razor/kitchen sink to be state-of-the-art forever?

That doesn't make sense, power-cords aren't obsolete until that future is present.

thank the lord, someone bought mine on ebay for 269.99, the same price a new one will be with student discount. only reason i did this was for the 12 hour battery life

The remote was great with my winter jacket, I would run the remote through my sleeve, and put my iPod in a warm pocket inside.
