ITunes Update reminder not deleting

i updated my iTunes with 12.0.1 successfully and it shows as having been updated. However it still shows as being an available update and selecting it again just causes it to download about 40mb and then aborting and saying it still needs to be updated. How can I remove this notice? Thanks

Check "About iTunes" and see what version is installed. I was going through the same thing after I installed Yosemite and saw that 12.0.0.140 was installed. If yours is the same you need to download iTunes 12.0.1 and install it manually. Then the update should disappear.

Thank you - you are right I have the earlier version running. However every time I try to download the latest version it proceeds until I reach about 40mb then it stops. Is there another way to download it?
