Several days ago a window started popping up on my wife's MacBook Pro saying that the sign-in to the iTunes store had expired and a new sign-in is required. The user id is identified as my son who apparently had used my wife's computer some time in the past. She does not ever access the iTunes store and does not have an account there. How can I make that very annoying window go away? Since I'm the IT person in our house it's now my fault that it won't stop.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mark

What I think I would do is ask your son for his ID and password (Obviously I don't know the family situation but if you can get it - great).

Then open iTunes. From top Menu Bar select Accounts and from the Drop Down, choose Authorisations > De-authorise this computer. That's when your son's ID will likely be required.

That should sort things.

Or, you can have your son deauthorize all computers he is signed into, if he has authorized more than two..

My son tells me that he is only signed in on his own laptop and iPad, and not on my wife's laptop. But the window keeps opening on her machine nevertheless. Very strange.

Hello again, Mark.

Very strange as you say.

Why not try what I suggested before and "De-authorise this computer". If it asks for an ID, you can try your son's, as that is what it claims in the Window. If it rejects that ID, you can use your wife's ID (that is, her Apple ID) and de-authorise the computer (account).

The account/computer authorisation can always be established at any time in the future if your wife suddenly finds a need for iTunes, by using her Apple ID.

Well, it turns out that although my son had signed out of itunes he had not actually de-authorized my wfe's computer. He has now done this and so far so good. No problems this morning so far. THanks for the good advice. I would not have figure this out on my own.
