I cleaned out my iMac 2006 and am currently running the 10.4.11 version of OS X. This comes with iTunes 6. I have on my other MacBook Pro an updated version of iTunes which includes an updated version of the OS X 10.5 or 10.6 but cannot access the store from my iMac. How do I get the OS X update from my 2009 iTunes? Is there an online website to sign into the iTunes store?

The Mac App store will not work on the machine that has 10.4.11 on it. Accessing the App Store requires at least OS X 10.6.x

You shouldn't need to access the App Store or iTunes store to update iTunes on the older machine though. Run Software Update on the 10.4.11 Mac (I think it is in the Apple Menu). That should find the most recent version of iTunes that the machine can run.

Can you still access software update that way? I thought the only way to update now is from the MAS and that requires at least 10.6.6. Although I would hope Apple has kept that door open for users of older Macs, but knowing how Apple does things it wouldn't surprise me if they shut it off.

I'm not sure. I would think that route is still open for older systems but as you say you never know. I can't test it (oldest OS running is 10.6.8) or I would just to find out.
