Looking to get a new Mac since my 2015 Desktop is a little old. I'm probably getting a Macbook this time. 1TB with 24 GB Ram.

I'm mostly just going to be using the Mac for script writing and internet browsing, but will probably from time to time use an editing software to work on several projects. I'm thinking of getting Adobe Premiere for this. This may progress to me using Adobe Premiere much more if I decide to get freelance edit gigs.

So is this Macbook right for me or are there others to maybe consider?

I went from a Mid-2015 MBP to a 14" M1. I use it mostly on my desk and it has been almost perfect. My only problem was the USB-C ports. I had to buy some adapters to connect my older stuff.

That combination should work quite nicely for the foreseeable future. As the amount of editing that you do increases you may find a second screen helpful - if you don't already have one.

I did pretty much exactly the same thing although now I would have considered the new M3 MacBook Air 16" today but definitely no regrets. This 14" MBP with the M1 Pro chip and 16Gb RAM has been and remains incredible.

Same as Rod here. Went from an M2 Pro Mini to using an M4 Pro MBP as my sole machine. I got one with the extra CPU and GPU cores and 1TB of storage, although most of my "stuff" is on any one of a number of external SSDs connected via a CalDigit hub, which also connects my MBP to an external monitor.

I love the flexibility of being able to use just the one machine wherever - either at home or out and about. The second screen (a 27" 4K monitor) is essential I find though.

Good luck with your choice :)
