Verizon, at least at the time, was notoriously more demanding on crippling handsets and controlling the UI than AT&T. Apple wouldn't budge, Verizon wouldn't give in either, so there was no way Verizon was getting the iPhone first.

That is also a very known thing about Verizion. Way before the iPhone in fact I heard that said over and over from friends who used Verizion and how their phone was missing many features compared to the same model phone from another carrier.

I wish I can remember where I read about the prices on the plans. I will see if I can find it.

Apple is transitioning from a niche to a open market and the aggressive attitude is not going to help them.

I think they may become too good for they're own good.

Their computers aren't that much different to any other company, they all use the same components as everyone else.

But I love my mac!!!

Care to explain what that means?

They have for years. Despite that they always rank pretty high in customer satisfaction and their fit and finish is better than almost anyone else's. What sets them apart is still the OS, and the fact they make "the whole box".

Just that apple is now targeting everyone instead of the diehard computer geeks and photographers.

Yes completely agree, Mac have found them selves a winning design with the whole less is more.

Let's forget those, hmm, colourful? desktops and laptops of the past mind you :Lips-Are-Sealed:

While I agree, Apple is targeting more customers with devices other than their computer. The iPod line has had a huge impact on the Mac line and Mac sales have increased because of the iPod, not the other way around. Apple didn't simply "find themselves" a winning design, they've been doing their entire history with very few exceptions.

As for those "colorful" desktops and laptops, well, those things sold in record numbers at the time and should be credited with really pulling Apples butts out of the fire long enough to get the iPod out get back on their feet. This is especially true of the original iMac and it's immediate offspring.

The only reason Apple is what it is, is Jobs... Ego thicker than molasses but a very savvy entrepreneur.

The only reason most successful companies (and unsuccessful ones for that matter) of any size are what they are, is because of the man (or woman) standing behind their product or service. What else is new?

Yeh, that's my point.

Apple is what it is because they bought-out Jobs's company bringing him back.

What? Who bought out Apple?

Are you sure you understand your own point?

All successful companies eventually fall victim to their success. I can think of no exceptions starting back in the eighteen hundreds with the railroads. They eventually get the attitude that "We are very successful and therefore we will always be successful." That is the beginning of the decent down the success slope.

Can anyone give an example of a business that became a pusher and leader of their industry and is still on top? Think UP, US Steel, GM, Ford, IBM, Xerox, RCA, Dell, etc, etc.

Microsoft is an example of a company who is/was at their peak recently and is now on the downhill side of the slope. Apple is one who is on the uphill side. Hopefully they will stay there for a long time, but who knows?

All that fail do so because they fail to adapt to changing markets. MS is an example of this. Apple tends to drive the market through their "innovation" thus remaining ahead of the curve. When you make the market follow you it's easy to stay ahead.

No not apple, Jobs's company he started after he left apple. Apple bought out that company which brought steve back to apple - slightly confusing? lol

Forgot the name of the company, I think it was 'next' or something.

Yes, it was Next. That is where OSX originated, sort of.

I don't see why people hate the Mac's mouse. You can easily replace it with a third party mouse with proper mouse buttons. I personally prefer the Magic Mouse though.

In my opinion, I think all the complaints about the death grip are silly. iOS 4.0 is a much larger issue - slowing down 3GS and killing 3G. 4.0 pretty much forced me to upgrade to iPhone 4.
