A warm welcome to Mac-Forums. Thank you for your post. You made a statement rather than pose a question.

So, please, what is your question?

We also need info about your Mac (Year, type, Operating System etc).

Sorry to be a bore, but we can't help till we have all the details.

Do you mean the 'fat Nano' (3rd Nano generation)? My sister has one of those I gave her in 2006, and it still works! What do you mean, "can't be used"? Your iPod and the music on it are independent of your Mac, except you might not be able to sync between the two.

I have an old iPod Nano that works fine as well. It's running the latest version of the OS it supports and I can connect it to my MBA running the latest Sonoma and when launching Music, I can ask it to sync and it opens up a Finder window to allow me to sync music to it.

So explain in detail what Mac you have and how you are trying to do the sync. Also indicate what specific errors you are getting.
